    • I was born February 9, 1887 in Milburn, Sanpete County, Utah in a two-room log house on what they called the "old spring branch." I was the third son of Jonathan Stewart and Julia Louisa Allred. My brothers were Jonathan (who died
at birth), Marvin, John (Jack), and Cyrus and my younger sister was Ethel.

Mother was a fine, pleasant woman and had a big responsibility left upon her hands when Father passed away. She had to raise five children. Father had built a nice sawed-lumber barn and had it shingled and finished. It was a nice big barn. Father and some of the other men in Milburn owned a thrashing machine and Father drove the horses on the old horsepower. Mother rented the farm out for six or eight years. Grandfather Allred rented it for a few years and then my Uncle Will Mower ran it until I was 14 years old.

My oldest brother Marvin passed away when he was 18 years old. We had taken over the farm when I was 14 years of age but Marvin herded sheep for Lewis Petersen the biggest part of the time. My two younger brothers, Cyrus and John Frank and I ran the farm. My sister Ethel was not born until the spring after Father passed away. She was a great comfort to Mother -- the only daughter she had.

(Thanks to Carolyn Stewart for this wonderful history of her father. Shown here is just a portion. Read the full history at FamilySearch.org)
